According to legend, the Yellow Emperor has built palaces to avoid the cold and summer, made clothes, dug wells, built ships, smelted copper, and invented bows and arrows and compass cars. According to legend, during the period of the Yellow Emperor, Cang Xie created characters, Ling Lun created music, and Li Shou invented abacus. Leizu, also known as Zu, Leizu or Leizu, is one of the legends of prehistoric society in China. She is the daughter of Xiling and the princess of Xuanyuan Huangdi. Lei Zu invented sericulture, which is called the beginning of Lei Zu's sericulture.
Lei Zu gave birth to two sons, Xiao Xuan and Changyi. Gao E, son of Xiao Xuan, Di Ku, one of the five emperors; Changyi married the daughter of Shushan, gave birth to Levin, and inherited the world, which is the "Zhuan Xu Emperor", one of the five emperors.
Commemorative activities:
1. Sericulture Festival: Xiping County is the birthplace and sericulture place of Leizu. Every year on April 23rd of the lunar calendar, local people hold a grand temple fair here to commemorate Lei Zu's achievements in raising silkworms, so the temple fair is also called "Silkworm Raising Festival".
2. Ancestor Sacrificial Ceremony: There are many sacrificial traditions related to sericulture in Yanting County. Among them, the most important are spring ceremony (that is, praying for farmers and silkworms in spring) and autumn ceremony (that is, paying silkworms in autumn). The Spring Festival is held on February 10th, Lei Zushou Day, and the "First Silkworm Festival" is held to pray for a bumper harvest for farmers and mulberry trees. "Autumn Ceremony" is an activity held on September 15 to repay the blessing of the silkworm god.
3. Lei Zu Cultural Festival: From 1984, the Leizu Temple Fair Festival was held in Yu Anan County, and it has been held for 33 times until 20 16. On 20 16, Yuan 'an changed the Leizu Temple Fair into the first Leizu Culture Festival in Yuan 'an, Hubei. ?
4. Paid Silkworm Festival: It is a traditional folk festival widely circulated in Yanting since ancient times. Every year on September 15 of the lunar calendar, the "silkworm reward festival" is a folk festival to thank Hong En, the silkworm god, and Lei Zu, the first silkworm god.

Leizu ancestor worship ceremony: On April 6, 2022, on the sixth day of the third lunar month, a Leizu ancestor worship ceremony was held in Leizu Cultural Park, Xiping County, Zhumadian City, Henan Province. This activity is the15th Leizu ancestor worship ceremony held in Xiping County. The theme of the ceremony is "the same ancestry, praying for the safety of the country and people".
