There are some common sayings in southern Fujian, such as "rainy and cold, no drought in spring", "two rains in spring, no water in ploughing", "rain in spring after thunder" and "no rain, no seedlings", all of which illustrate the importance of rain to agricultural planting in southern Fujian.
