1 Samuel Chapter 5: Spiritual Meaning
There are seven festivals, the first is Passover, the second is Unleavened Festival, the third is the first ripening, the fourth is Pentecost, and the seventh of July is also the Harvest Festival. What is the fifth? The year's harvest is over, blow the horn! At this time, our Lord Jesus Christ came. Next is Yom Kippur, the day of atonement and changing clothes. Then the festival of tabernacles, which is also a festival of collecting, collects our eternal industry and crowns us to live in an eternal new world.
Introduction to god
The noun "Yahweh" comes from the Hebrew Old Testament. The only true God worshipped by the ancient Hebrews was afraid to call him by his first name out of awe. He wrote his name "JHWH" in the scripture, and when he couldn't spell or read the scripture or pray, he used "adhonay" (meaning "My Lord") instead.
Later, Christian theologians embedded the vowel in the word "adhonay" into "JHWH", spelling it as Jehovah, and reading it as Jehovah, which became a convention and has been used ever since. Modern scholars believe that "JHWH" should be pronounced as "Jahve" (there are many Chinese translations, such as Yahweh, Yahweh, Yahweh and Ye Wei). The Catholic Bible is translated as "God".
God: The word "God" in the Bible comes from the Hebrew word "Elohim". As the supreme God of Christianity, God is the creator and master of all things in the universe, and good is rewarded with good, and evil with evil.
"God" is the supreme concept of God in China's Confucian classics The Book of Songs, Shangshu and Book of Rites. The word "God" first appeared in China's classics, and it was Yu Shu Shun Dian in Shangshu.
In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, it was difficult for translators to determine the Chinese word "God", so they used the transliteration of the Latin concept "Dehousse". Matteo Ricci was the first person to translate "God" into "God". In his book "On Making Friends" written in 1595, he began to use the concept of "God" to refer to the creator.
Matteo Ricci found the concepts of "Heaven" and "God" in China's classics when he read and studied China's classics from a Christian perspective, which he thought could be used to translate "Dehousse". Later, he learned that Zhu interpreted "heaven" as a kind of meaning, which was different from the meaning of "Dehousse" in the Bible, so he adopted "God" and "God" for translation. Later, Ma Lixun adopted the word "God" for translation. When the missionaries of Taiping Heavenly Kingdom translated the Bible, they widely used "God".
