What's the use of the throttle? What is a throttle?

1. Definition of throttle: Throttle is a controllable valve that controls air to enter the engine. It connects the air filter at the top and the engine intake pipe at the bottom, and is called the throat of the automobile engine.

2. Classification of throttle: There are two kinds of throttle: traditional cable throttle and electronic throttle.

The traditional engine throttle control mechanism works through a cable (soft steel wire) or a pull rod, one end of which is connected with the throttle pedal and the other end is connected with the throttle linkage plate.

Electronic throttle mainly controls the opening of throttle through throttle position sensor and throttle motor, so as to adjust the intake air. There are four types of electronic throttles: electro-hydraulic type, linear electromagnet type, stepping motor type and DC servo motor type.

Three. Detection of throttle valve

1. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position, unplug the throttle position sensor connector, and insert a thickness gauge with appropriate thickness between the throttle limit screw and the limit lever; Use multimeter Ω to measure the continuity of idle contact and full load contact at the throttle position sensor connector.

2. When the throttle valve is fully closed, the idle contact IDL should be turned on; When the throttle valve is fully opened or nearly fully opened, the full-load contact PSW should be turned on; At other openings, both contacts should be non-conductive.

3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, unplug the wire connector of the throttle position sensor, and measure the resistance of the linear potentiometer with the Ω gear of the multimeter. The resistance should increase linearly with the increase of the throttle opening.
