Fault phenomenon of throttle position sensor

The key of throttle position sensor is to detect the change of throttle opening, and convert it into an electrical signal and input it to ECU of motor control module. The ECU judges the working state of the engine according to the data signal of the throttle position, and then the electronic computer adjusts the ignition advance angle and ignition timing according to the information content of this working state.

Common faults of throttle sensor

1, short circuit fault or short circuit of idle power switch;

2. Improper adjustment of the position sensor of the throttle body causes the idle power switch to be closed when the throttle body is fully closed, or the idle power switch is still closed when the throttle body has a unique opening.

3. The rolling contact of the linear adjustable resistor has poor contact. In the process of the throttle body from fully closed to fully open, the data signal from the throttle body position sensor is intermittently terminated.

Main manifestations of common faults of throttle sensor

The common faults of the throttle sensor will endanger the idle speed control function of the engine computer, resulting in abnormal idle running of the engine (for example, too high or too low idle speed, unstable idle speed, easy to catch fire at idle speed) or abnormal acceleration of the engine (for example, the engine shakes when accelerating, and the response is slow when accelerating), and may also cause intermittent vibration when the engine is running.

The common faults of the throttle position sensor may be that the connector is rusted, poorly contacted, not disconnected, the original position is misplaced, and the working voltage is high or slightly low. To solve these problems, complete the inspection, repair and adjustment: run the engine, manually control the throttle, keep the engine idling, loosen the two fixing screws on the sensor, rotate the throttle position sensor in the opposite direction, and check with a multimeter at the same time, first disconnect the middle and upper connectors. Then gradually rotate the sensor clockwise to open and close the upper and middle terminals, and then fix the two screws on the sensor. If the adjustment does not meet the requirements, it should be removed and replaced immediately.
