What is the fundamental difference between throttle and transmission?

The throttle valve is installed on the engine to control the amount of oil entering the cylinder for combustion (commonly known as throttle valve). The greater the opening, the more mixed gas enters the cylinder and the higher the engine speed, thus controlling the engine speed. The transmission is installed between the transmission system of the engine and the wheel, which is used to transmit the power of the engine and change the transmission ratio between the engine and the wheel (in layman's terms, torque).

If you don't need a transmission, use the throttle to control the speed. If the throttle is large and fast, the maximum speed of the vehicle is equal to the maximum opening of the throttle, which not only wastes a lot of engine power resources, but also fails to meet the ideal speed requirements.

For example, riding a bicycle requires a lot of force to make the car run from the beginning. After the car speeds up gradually, you can keep the car running at a certain speed without so much force.

The same is true of cars. At the beginning, the engine needs to consume a lot of power. Through the transmission, the torque of the engine can be better transmitted, thus effectively driving the wheels. When the car travels to a certain speed, after shifting gears gradually (changing the transmission ratio through different gears), the engine does not need to keep a large throttle and a high speed all the time, but keeps a certain throttle opening, which means that the car can keep a certain speed. This not only makes full, reasonable and ingenious use of the power resources of the engine, but also saves a lot of fuel and reduces the mechanical wear of the engine.
