Excelle 1.6 Timing Belt Installation

Disassembly steps of timing belt of new Excelle 1.6L engine.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the fresh air pipe for forced ventilation of the crankcase from the outlet hose of the air cleaner.

3. Disconnect the air temperature sensor electrical connector from the air cleaner outlet hose.

4. Remove the air cleaner outlet hose from the throttle body, as shown in figure 1-3- 1.

5. Remove the air cleaner housing bolt.

6. Remove the air filter housing as shown in figure 1-3-2.

7. Remove the right front wheel.

8. Remove the fender of the right front wheel. 9. Remove the engine accessory drive belt.

10. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt, as shown in figure 1-3-3.

12. Remove the front upper timing belt cover bolt, as shown in figure 1-3-4.

13. Remove the front upper timing belt cover as shown in figure 1-3-4.

14. Remove the front and lower timing belt cover bolts as shown in figure 1-3-4.

15. Remove the front lower timing belt cover, as shown in figure 1-3-4.

Install the crankshaft pulley bolt.

17. Turn the crankshaft clockwise for at least one full turn with the crankshaft pulley bolt, and align the mark on the crankshaft timing gear with the rear timing belt cover.

At the bottom of the gap, the timing marks of the camshaft timing gears should also be aligned with each other, as shown in figure 1-3-5.

18. Loosen the water pump fixing bolt slightly.

19. Turn the water pump clockwise with a special tool, as shown in figure 1-3-6.

20. Remove the right engine mount.

1. As shown in Figure 1-3-5, align the timing mark on the crankshaft timing gear with the notch at the bottom of the rear timing belt cover.

2. Align the timing mark on the camshaft timing gear, as shown in figure 1-3-5.

3. Install the timing belt.

4. Install the right engine mounting bracket as shown in figure 1-3-8.

5. Turn the water pump clockwise with special tools.

6. Turn the water pump clockwise until the pointer on the adjusting arm of the automatic timing belt tensioner is aligned with the notch on the bracket of the automatic timing belt tensioner, as shown in figure 1-3-9.

7. Tighten the fixing bolts of the water pump.

8. Turn the crankshaft clockwise for two turns with the crankshaft pulley.

9. Loosen the fixing bolt of the water pump.

10. Turn the water pump until the pointer on the adjusting arm of the timing belt automatic tensioner is aligned with the pointer on the bracket of the timing belt automatic tensioner, as shown in figure 1-3- 10. 1 1. Tighten the fixing bolts of the water pump. Tighten the water pump fixing bolt to 10 Nm.

Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt.

13. Install the front upper and lower timing belt cover.

14. Install the front upper and lower timing belt cover bolts as shown in figure 1-3- 1 1. Tighten the front timing belt cover bolt to 10 Nm. ..

15. Install the crankshaft pulley, as shown in figure 1-3- 12.

Install the crankshaft pulley bolt. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 95N·m, and then tighten it again by 30+ 15.

17. Install the engine accessory drive belt.

18. Install the fender on the right front wheel.

19. Install the right front wheel.

20. Install the air filter housing, as shown in figure 1-3- 13.

Tighten the air cleaner housing bolts to 10 Nm. ..

22. Connect the outlet hose of the air cleaner to the throttle body.

23. Connect the crankcase forced ventilation fresh air pipe to the air cleaner outlet.

On the water pipe.

24. Connect the electrical connector of the air temperature sensor to the outlet hose of the air cleaner.

25. Connect the negative battery cable.
