Legend of offering sacrifices to stoves in off-year
According to legend, on the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month, the Kitchen God Bodhisattva went to the Jade Emperor to report the bad things and good deeds that the family had done in the past year, especially when the hostess cursed in the kitchen.
The Kitchen God Bodhisattva will go to the Jade Emperor to tell the truth. In order to pray that the Kitchen God Bodhisattva can offer a kind word to the Jade Emperor, she will sacrifice the kitchen stove on this day, praying that the Kitchen God Bodhisattva will forgive her master and bless a year without disease and disaster, peace and happiness.
