What season is July 9th?
"79" comes from a well-known passage in "Song of 99", "79 rivers open, 89 geese come, 99 Canada 19, and cows are everywhere". Nine, refers to the unit of nine days, 79, that is, 7×9=63 days, to show that winter has passed and spring has come, and farmers will start farming accordingly.
This folk proverb says that since July 9, the weather has turned warmer, the river ice has become civilized, and geese have flown in. This should be aimed at the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and North China, because there is no ice in the south and the ice in the northeast can't melt in July and September.
Brief introduction of customs
Counting to nine is one of the popular customs in China. Counting nine means counting from the date of winter solstice (also known as counting from winter solstice), counting nine every nine days, and so on. As the saying goes, "it's hot in dog days, but cold in dog days", and the coldest period of the year is "March 9, April 9". From nine to eighty-one, "peach blossoms bloom at nine o'clock."
At this point, the cold has gone and the weather is getting warmer. Due to the vast territory of China, the climate varies greatly from place to place. Only parts of China, not all parts of the country, correspond to the winter solstice "9981, nine peach blossoms, deep spring and warm days", and some cold areas have no breath of spring.
