Influence of topography on temperature in Sichuan basin

Sichuan Basin is located in the south of Daba Mountain and Longmen Mountain, east of Qionglai Mountain and Daliangshan Mountain, north of Dalou Mountain and west of Wushan Mountain. It is surrounded by plateau mountains with an altitude of 1000 to 3000 meters, and the basin bottom is mostly about 500 meters above sea level. Because of the high terrain in Qinba Mountain area in the north of the basin, the cold air and cold wave southward in winter are blocked and weakened, so the interior of the basin is warm in winter.

The basin belongs to concave terrain, and the heat in the basin is not easy to dissipate, which makes the heat conditions here better. The height of Dalou Mountain in the south is not high, and the valley along the river on its north slope is located on the leeward slope of summer monsoon. Downward airflow contributes to the heat of summer monsoon.
