Poetry translation of September Festival with 24 solar terms and cold dew

The translation of this poem reciting the twenty-four solar terms and the cold dew festival in September is as follows:

The cold dew came, and I was surprised to find that it was late autumn; I saw chrysanthemum turn yellow for the second time in the morning. In front of thousands of families, the wind seems to be sweeping the leaves. In the clear sky of Wan Li, geese seem to fly south with the sun. Become an oyster and feel sorry for the birds; Harvesting farmland is afraid of early frost. Therefore, we know that the ambition of pine and cypress, regardless of the cold winter and hot summer, is gloomy.

Poem "Twenty-four Qi, Cold Dew and September Festival" by Yuan Zhen in Tang Dynasty

The cold dew scares the autumn night, and the chrysanthemums turn yellow at first sight. Thousands of winds sweep the fallen leaves, and Wan Li geese follow the sun.

Turn clams into sad birds, and harvest fields to fear the first frost. Because I know that pine and cypress are gray in winter and summer.

Precautions:

1, cold dew, is the seventeenth of the twenty-four solar terms and belongs to the fifth solar term in autumn.

2, change: that is, the sparrow becomes a phoenix. It was thought in ancient times that sparrows would become clams when they entered the sea hundreds of years later. Speaking of chitose swallows becoming sea clams.

3. Harvest: refers to harvesting crops in farmland.

Appreciate:

This is a poem by Yuan Zhen, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty, praising the cold dew. This poem was found in Dunhuang documents and has two manuscripts. Its content is exactly the same, but the name is, one is Lu Xianggong's poem "Twenty-four Wonders" and the other is Yuan Xianggong's poem. Without the collation and excavation of Dunhuang documents, this group of atmospheric solar terms poems would have missed us.

The autumn colors in the cold dew season have the meaning of ink painting, such as blue sky, yellow leaves, flying north, cold mountains and blue sky, Qian Shan, full of water, the forest is dyed and the grass is withered.

When the first couplet came, I was surprised to find that it was late autumn. I saw chrysanthemum turn yellow for the second time in the morning. This sentence points out the writing time and writes the third issue of Cold Dew: Chrysanthemum Blossoms. Chrysanthemums are also in bloom at this time, so the third stage is "chrysanthemums blossom yellow flowers"

Zhuan Xu couplet, thousands of winds sweep the leaves, Wan Li geese follow the sun. That is to say, before thousands of families, the wind seems to sweep the fallen leaves, and in the clear sky of Wan Li, geese seem to fly south with the sun. This couplet is steady and gorgeous, which can be described as a masterpiece of writing cold dew poems. Thousands of families, Wan Li presents a vast and magnificent Qiu Jingtu.

Neck straps turn clams into sad birds, and harvest fields for fear of early frost. It means becoming an oyster and feeling sorry for the birds; Harvesting farmland is afraid of early frost. This sentence is written as "third class, second class": a sparrow enters the water and is a clam.

Tail couplet, because it is known that pine and cypress are gray in winter and summer. In other words, we know that the ambition of pine and cypress, whether it is cold winter or hot summer, is gloomy and the color is green. The style of this poem is very positive, the content is simple, and the three strokes are neatly written, which is quite similar to Yuan Zhen's poetic style and should be a masterpiece of Yuan Zhen's twenty-four solar terms poems.
