In the evening/before 0/2 o'clock in Kloc-0, lay people washed their hands and burned incense and bowed down to the kitchen god, praying that the kitchen god would "do good deeds in heaven and return safely". The 30th day of the twelfth lunar month is commonly known as "New Year's Eve" or "New Year's Day". Every household starts cleaning in the afternoon, which is called "sweeping the dust". Put up new door gods and couplets, and put up red papers such as "Happy New Year", "Peace throughout the year" and "All the best".
On New Year's Eve, the whole family, old and young, sit together to have a "reunion dinner" and cook more dishes, which means more than one year.
After zero o'clock, even at the beginning of the new year, every household opens the door to set off firecrackers to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year. The first day I opened the door early in the morning, and firecrackers and scraps of paper were everywhere in the street.
On the morning of New Year's Day, the elders first pay New Year's greetings to the ancestors of Xianghuotang, and then the children pay New Year's greetings to their grandparents and parents, saying some auspicious words, and the elders give the younger generation "lucky money".
