Adverse reactions of salmeterol fluticasone aerosol

Because Seretide contains salmeterol and fluticasone propionate, the type and severity of side effects associated with each component can be predicted. No additional side effects were found when the two drugs were used together. Like other inhalation therapies, abnormal bronchospasm may occur. The side effects associated with salmeterol or fluticasone propionate are as follows. Salmeterol: There have been reports of side effects of 2- agonist therapy, such as tremor, palpitation and headache, but they are all temporary and can be relieved by routine treatment. Some patients may have arrhythmia (including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia and outdoor contraction). Some patients may have peripheral vasodilation and slightly increased compensatory heart rate. There are reports of joint pain and allergic reactions, including rash, edema and angioneurotic edema. Rare report of muscle spasm. Fluticasone propionate: Some patients may have hoarseness and oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush). Gargling after using seretide aerosol can reduce hoarseness and candidiasis. Symptomatic candidiasis can be treated locally with antifungal drugs, while seretide aerosol can continue to be used. Reports of skin allergic reactions are not common. Rare symptoms are angioedema (mainly facial and/or throat edema) and allergic reaction of respiratory system (dyspnea and/or bronchospasm). Very rare allergic reaction. Possible systemic effects include adrenal suppression, developmental retardation in children and adolescents, decreased bone density, cataract and glaucoma (see precautions).
