A glimpse of Wuzhen

Wuzhen is one of the four famous towns in the south of the Yangtze River. This is an ancient town with a long history of more than 6000 years. It was once named Wu Dun and Qingdun. The whole town governs 13 community neighborhood committees and 18 administrative villages. Wuzhen is located at the northern end of Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province, bordering Huzhou City in the west and Wujiang County in Jiangsu Province in the north. It is the junction of two provinces and three cities. There is a county-level highway, Yaozhen Line, which runs through the town and can be connected with provincial salt lake highway, 320 national highway, 3 18 highway and Shanghai-Hangzhou-expressway via Yaozhen Highway. Wuzhen is 13km away from Tongxiang city, 27km away from Jiaxing, 45km away from Huzhou and 60km away from Wujiang, 80km away from Hangzhou and Suzhou, and 0/40km away from Shanghai. It takes more than an hour's drive from Hangzhou to the expressway.

Charming night view of Wuzhen

Wuzhen Wuzhen is a typical southern water town. It is called "Land of Fish and Rice and House of Silk". A flowing water runs through the town, with water as the street and the shore as the city. The houses on both sides of the river face the river in an all-round way, forming a charming water town scenery. There are awning boats in the water from time to time. Shops on the shore are full of hawking. There are three most famous products in Wuzhen: Sanjiu liquor is brewed from pure grain, with simple technology and mellow taste, which will last for three days after drinking; Batik cloth is blue and white, embellishing the unique style of Jiangnan; Sister-in-law cakes are crisp and sweet, and their reputation spreads all over the world. Wuzhen is the cover of Jiangnan, China, which has inherited thousands of years of history and culture. Simple and beautiful water town scenery, unique delicacies, colorful folk festivals, profound humanistic accumulation and unchanging lifestyle make Wuzhen a living fossil of ancient oriental civilization. The inheritance of wisdom is accompanied by the book fragrance, which shows a fascinating historical picture here.

Shuixiang wuzhen

199 1 year, Wuzhen was rated as a provincial historical and cultural city. 1999 started the ancient town protection and tourism development project, which was put into the market in 2000 and was a great success. Now Wuzhen Scenic Area has been rated as a national AAAA scenic spot, and it is one of the 20 golden week forecast scenic spots in China.

Characteristics of Town Layout in Wuzhen

Wuzhen, which has the characteristics of a typical water town in the south of the Yangtze River, completely retains the original style and pattern of the ancient water town in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. Taking the river as the street, connecting the street and the bridge, building houses by the river, and integrating water and town, the architectural elements with unique charm in the south of the Yangtze River, such as Shui Ge, Xiaoqiao, Shiban Lane and Mao Dun's former residence, are organized, which embodies the humanistic thought of "harmony is beauty" in China's classical houses, and presents the spatial charm of the ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River with the overall beauty of harmonious coexistence of its natural environment and humanistic environment.

Wuzhen is foggy at night.

1. Overall mode

In Wuzhen, the river network overlaps with the main road, bridges into roads, and ships run in flowing water, making it in the form of roads and water. This water network system connects the ponds and wells of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal, Taihu Lake and Wuzhen, and ideally solves the water problems such as farming, drinking water, drainage, viewing and transportation.

In the layout of Wuzhen, because it once spanned two provinces (Zhejiang and Jiangsu), three states (Jiaxing, Huzhou and Suzhou) and seven counties (Wucheng, Gui 'an, Chongde, Tongxiang, Xiushui, Wujiang and Zhenze) in history, and the accumulation and precipitation of Wuyue culture, it was obviously influenced by China traditional Confucian culture and canal commercial culture in concept. Confucian culture often rejects the popular geomantic omen theory in architecture, so it is rare to see inclined doors on the left, shadow walls avoiding rushing, or symbolic towns such as "Taishan Shi Gandang" placed in the road, but various houses with distinct axes and simple order. In addition, I also visited the commercial buildings such as Luge Teahouse, the workshop where senior engineers were born and rotten, and Hongyuantai Dyeing House. Huiyuan Pawnshop is located in Changfeng Street, with a dark word "dang", the counter is 1.8 meters high, and it has a strong commercial atmosphere. This is also a very different place from other ancient towns in Jiangnan.

2. Shui Ge, like many water towns in the south of the Yangtze River, has streets and houses built near the stream, so-called "people try their best to pillow the river".

Wuzhen is unique in that some houses along the river extend to the river surface, the bottom of which is hit on the riverbed with wooden stakes or columns, and the beams are put on the shelves, which is called "Shui Ge", which is a unique feature of Wuzhen. Shui Ge is a real "pillow river" with windows on three sides, from which you can see the scenery of the city river. Mao Dun once described Shui Ge in his hometown in "Mountains and Rivers": "Ah ... outside the back door is a river, standing at the back door (that's Shui Ge's door), you can draw water with a bucket, and when you wake up in the middle of the night, you can hear the sound of rushing water and drift over ..."

Wuzhen Renjia Jinzhenhe

Legend has it that Shui Ge was built by a resourceful tofu man who broke the rules. However, with the passage of time, a lot of history has vanished. Only this architectural form, which combines the practicality and enjoyment of life, can be preserved and continued because of people's love. In a sense, Shui Ge is the aura of Wuzhen, although it is not luxurious, and it is difficult to compare with high-rise buildings. With Shui Ge, Wuzhen people are closer to water; With Shui Ge, Wuzhen's style is more charming; With Shui Ge, Wuzhen's temperament is more elegant; With Shui Ge, the history of Wuzhen has added a euphemism. Shui Ge is the originality and charm of Wuzhen.

Wandering in Wuzhen, wandering in painting

Clear water and wind, small bridges and flowing water, and the sound of drowning spread out slowly before our eyes like a picture scroll of Shui Ge, watching people in water towns live and work in Shui Ge and listening to the call of people in ancient towns. Shui Ge in Wuzhen is loved by more and more people for its unique charm.

3. Small bridges and flowing water

Bridge is an indispensable factor in the ancient town of Jiangnan water town. It is said that there are more than 120 bridges in Wuzhen history, which is really "one bridge takes a hundred steps", and there are more than 30 existing bridges. Among them, there are Tongji Bridge and Renji Bridge in Tashi, Yingjia Bridge, Taiping Bridge, Renshou Bridge, Yong 'an Bridge and Fengyuan Double Bridge in Zhong Shi and Dongzha. South Gate has Fuxing Bridge and Fulan Bridge; There are Tiyun Bridge and Li Ji Bridge in Beizha.

Wuzhen in Liu Shui

These bridges were first built in the Southern Song Dynasty, and most of them were built or rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Some are also engraved with bridges, such as Tongji Bridge: "In the cold trees and smoke, the old place of the Six Dynasties is exhausted; Outside the sunset sail, there are several distant mountains in Xing Wu. " (facing south) "Tongyunmen opens tens of thousands of miles in the waters of western Zhejiang; The title bridge people look at Yanjing three thousand miles north. " (facing north) has a strong historical and cultural atmosphere.

4. slate alley

Walking into Wuzhen, walking on the narrow streets paved with bluestone slabs, and seeing all kinds of houses on both sides, and villagers still living in houses, people will have a kind and natural feeling. Wuzhen, as a historical ancient town, both the whole town and Guanqian Street reflect the overall beauty of harmonious coexistence of human environment and natural environment. Walking into this ancient town full of agricultural culture and strolling on the stone street stretching for more than a mile, you can hear the echo of footsteps in another alley. There is a "stone bank" along the water street, some of which may be decorative. For example, I have seen a bottle with three halberds engraved on it, which means "level 1 to level 3". It's used to tie boats.

The produced "Sanjiu" is famous for its rich aroma, mellow wine taste, soft taste, refreshing aftertaste and endless aftertaste. 5. Fix the concept of truth

The concept of fixing truth is in Wuzhen, a middle city. In the first year of Xianping in the Northern Song Dynasty (998), Zhang Dongming, a Taoist priest, built a house here, where he realized the Tao and founded the concept of "fixing the truth". Aimi Oasis-Wuzhen Zhaxi Scenic Area

The Zhaxi block in Wuzhen truly presents the original historical features of the ancient town of Jiangnan water town. Compared with the first-phase protection and development project, the second-phase protection and development of Zhaxi Scenic Area is more complete and thorough, and people are more harmonious with the environment, nature and architecture. There are 250,000 square meters of exquisite Ming and Qing architecture in the scenic spot. The northern part of the scenic spot is a natural wetland of more than 50,000 square meters. The biggest difference between the first phase and the second phase is that the first phase is a "sightseeing" scenic spot similar to other ancient towns, while the second phase is a rare "sightseeing plus leisure experience" scenic spot in China. The story behind Wuzhen

1. General Wu and the Legend of Ancient Ginkgo biloba

On the west bank of the river in Wuzhen, there is an ancient ginkgo tree, which is tall and big. It takes three people to hold hands to hug. It is simple and vigorous, and you can see the top of the tree ten miles away. Ancient ginkgo biloba has been passed down from the Tang Dynasty, with a history of 1000 years. This ginkgo tree is related to a hero in the Tang Dynasty. During the Yuanhe period, there was a brave general named Wu, who was called General Wu. General Wu loves his country and his people, and is strong in martial arts and brave and good at fighting. Since the Anshi Rebellion in the Tang Dynasty, the strength of the central government has gradually weakened, and local officials are full of domineering and have become kings.

At that time, Li Qi, the secretariat of Zhejiang Province, also wanted to seek hegemony and sent troops to rebel, which made this area in a state of chaos and people in distress. The emperor ordered General Wu Zan and Vice General Wu Qi to lead a crusader, and they pursued him until the rebels fled. When the officers and men chased Chexi River in Wuzhen, Li Qi suddenly hung up the death-free card and demanded a truce.

Wuzhen in Shui Ge

General Wu camped on the spot and stood by to fight again. Who knows that the rebels attacked the camp in the middle of the night, and General Wu rose to meet the enemy. Richie retreated to Chexi River and quickly escaped from a stone bridge. General Wu got off the bridge and was shot dead by a flurry of arrows. It turned out that a trap was set under the bridge and General Wu was assassinated.

Wu got up, killed the rebels, buried General Wu in the west of Chexi River in Wuzhen and built a grave for him. Strange to say, on the same night, people saw General Wu on the new grave, shining a little red light and the sound of horses' hooves. The next day, a green ginkgo tree appeared on the grave, which quickly grew into a towering tree. It is strange that this ginkgo tree never bears fruit. Everyone says that this ginkgo is the embodiment of General Wu.

Wuzhen architecture

Because Richie's rebellion was put down, the people were saved from war. In memory of this patriotic general, a temple of General Wu was built in Wuzhen, and a plaque was hung in the temple, which read "General Dashu". From then on, General Wu became a local god and blessed the local people.

2. Evolution of Wuzhen Town Name

The ancient names of Wuzhen are Wu Dun and Wushu. "Wharf", as Wang Yuzhou said in "Discrimination on Hill", "Wuzhen was Wu Dun in ancient times, which was higher than No.4 Mine because of its vein grave ...", has been explained clearly enough. But why is it called "Wu"? There are many kinds of sayings. One said, "The King of Yue fought for the long sea bag here, so it became Wu, so it was called"; Say "it's the famous land god General Wu"; Speaking of "Wuutuo monument, there is a clear lock in the green", so it has the name of Wuqing. It is said that predecessors have raised objections to this figure, saying that it is either undocumented, attached to the meeting, or lacking historical common sense. Lu Xuebo has refuted this in detail when he edited Qing Wu Town Records. At the same time, he put forward a more reasonable statement, which was put forward by Xiang Xian in the Qing Wu Literature in the 27th year of Qing Emperor Kangxi (1688): "The names of Wu Dun and Qingdun have never been far away ... Since most rivers and mountains have been opened up, why do they still have their names? All the truths in the world are obvious, such as' green is about to drip, and it is high across Qilu'. And' Chengjiang is as quiet as practice' is a vivid portrayal of the landscape. Qing Wu's meaning covers this point. "

Wuzhen

Wuzhen is a river alluvial plain with a lot of swamp silt, so its veins are higher than those of No.4 Mine, and its color is deep and fat, so it is named Wu Dun. In fact, such place names are not uncommon in the local area. 9 kilometers away from Wuzhen, there is a village called Hongdun. Its town motto says, "Hongdun is in the west of the town, and the ground is full of graves. The village is named after this. " There is also a village called Zidun next to it, because it is purple stone soil. The names of Hongdun and Zidun provide realistic basis for the vivid description of Wu Dun's name.

During the Spring and Autumn Period, Wuzhen was the border of wuyue, where Wu stationed troops to prevent crossing the country, so it was called "Wu Garrison". (Li Le said in "Qing Wu Town Records": "The town belongs to Wu, and Wu Shubing is called Shu." "Wuzhen was called Wu Dun in ancient times, and was later called Wude because of wuyue's former Wang Shubing. Now it is called Wuzhen. " But he obviously confused Qian Liu Wang Wuyue with wuyue in the Spring and Autumn Period. Wuzhen has not been called "Wu" since the Tang Dynasty. Besides, the northern border of Wu Yue State, the king of Qian Liu, reaches as far as Changshu, and Wuzhen is relatively inland, so it is obviously meaningless.

Wuzhen ancient bridge

During the Qin Dynasty, Wuzhen belonged to Huiji County, bounded by Chexi (now Shihe River), Wu Dun in the west, Wucheng County in the east and Qingdun in the east. The situation that Wuzhen was divided and ruled by the county began. As for the origin of the "green" of the green pier, Wang Yuzhou pointed out in the Collection of Hill that "fear of bordering Ukraine makes it different from green." During the Tang Dynasty, Wuzhen belonged to Suzhou Prefecture. In the 13th year of Tang Xiantong (872), the title of "Wuzhen" appeared for the first time in Suo Jing Wang Ming Temple Monument (written by Hong Chu), which was unfounded before. Another monument in this period, Guangfujiao Temple Monument, is called "Wuqin Town". The history of Wuzhen as a "town" may begin from now on. There was an official position in the town at that time. In the early years of Yuanfeng (1078), there were records of Wudun Town and Qingdun Town. Later, it was renamed Wuzhen and Qingzhen to avoid light and taboo. Song Guangzong ascended the throne in the Southern Song Dynasty. His name is a strange word. He added "Xiang" beside the vertical heart and pronounced "Dun", so the word "Dun" could not be used all over the world. From then on, Wu Dun was named Wuzhen. ) 1950 In May, the two towns of Wu and Qing merged and became Wuzhen, which belonged to Tongxiang County and Jiaxing until today.

3. The origin of Wuzhen in Shui Ge.

The origin of Shui Ge in Wuzhen is the same as many water towns in the south of the Yangtze River. Streets and houses are built along streams and rivers, which is the so-called "people do their best to pillow the river." Wuzhen is unique in that some houses along the river extend to the river. Under them, hit the riverbed with wooden stakes or pillars, put beams on it, and put boards on it, which is called "Shui Ge". This is the unique style of Wuzhen. Wuzhen residents have been with water for generations, sleeping under the pillow. Earlier, there was no Shui Ge here. Things have to start with a lawsuit.

Wuzhen-a characteristic water town in the south of the Yangtze River

There is a tofu shop near Wuzhen Nanzha pontoon bridge, near the lower bank of the river. There is only one facade, and the studio is very small. A pair of stone mills in grinding bean curd and a seven-stone jar for soaking soybeans are there, but the store can't turn around. The tofu shop is going to expand its store. He thought, there is a street in front, which can't be extended, and there are other shops on the left and right, which can't be expanded. On second thought, it is more appropriate to develop on the river behind the store. So he put several wooden stakes on the riverbed behind the shop, put beams on it, nailed several boards on the beams, built a small attic, and moved a seven-stone jar soaked with soybeans and some odds and ends there. In this way, the shop is much more comfortable.

News travels fast in small towns. No sooner had the attic of the tofu shop been set up than the town inspector sent someone to inquire. He warned: "This is Guan He! The government has announced that it is not allowed to occupy the river privately. You are allowed to dismantle it within three days, otherwise it will be sent to the government! " I heard that it was sent to the official investigation, and the tofu shop panicked. what can I do? He thought there was a poor scholar in this street who often came to the store to buy tofu. If you have a little friendship at ordinary times, ask him. The scholar's surname is Zhang. Although his family is poor, he is honest and frank. Zhang Xiucai was filled with indignation after hearing the complaint. He said to the manager of the tofu shop, "Don't be afraid, go and reason with the government. I will write you a note. If the government takes you to court, you can say that you are not guilty and give him this note. "

Three days later, someone saw that the water pavilion in the tofu shop had not been demolished, so they sent him to see the inspector. The patrolman was surprised and shouted, "What is your crime?" The waiter in the tofu shop replied, "The villain is innocent. Do not believe you to check. " Said, and presented the paper written by Zhang Xiucai. The inspector took his finger and looked at it. Suddenly, his brow was knotted and he was speechless. Finally, I had to acquit the tofu shop and let him go back. Why did the inspector let the tofu shop go after seeing the paper? It turned out that the city river in Wuzhen was relatively narrow at that time, and only two boats could pass. To this end, the county government has issued a notice prohibiting the occupation of Guanhe River. However, the river near the pontoon bridge of Wuzhen Nanzha, where the tofu shop is located, is wider than other places, and five or six boats can be parallel. It doesn't matter even if some waterside pavilions are built. Near Beihua Bridge, the river is already narrow. In order to dock the official ship, the inspection department built a wide stone embankment, which made the river so narrow that even two ships could not pass. Zhang Xiucai wrote on the paper: "The people occupy the Guanhe River, and the five ships are in parallel; The official occupies the official river, and it is difficult for two ships to travel. Who is blocking the traffic? The owner knows it himself. " When the inspector saw it, he knew that he was wrong. He thought that if he forced the tofu officer to be punished and went to the county government, it would not be good for him, so he had to release the tofu officer without guilt.

Wuzhen Gu Xiang

Since then, the number of "water pavilions" on the river has gradually increased, becoming a unique beauty of Wuzhen. The clear water is winding, the bridges are like shadows, and the sound is like a picture scroll of Shui Ge unfolding slowly in front of us. Seeing the people in water towns living and working in Shui Ge and hearing the voices of the people in ancient towns, Wuzhen Shui Ge is being loved by more and more people with its unique charm.
