The origin of the Millennium solar terms

The dew in the morning condenses into water drops due to cold air.

The origin of the Millennium is that the yang spirit reaches its peak at the solstice in summer, and the two poles meet, and the yin spirit also rises at this time. In the white dew, the yin gradually increases, and the morning dew thickens and condenses into a layer of white water droplets.

Meteorological changes of Bailu solar terms

After the Millennium solar terms passed, the summer monsoon was gradually taken over by the winter wind, and the cold air gradually moved south. In addition, the position of direct sunlight on the ground moves south, which shortens the sunshine time and weakens the sunshine intensity in the northern hemisphere. At night, it is often partly cloudy and sunny, the ground radiation dissipates quickly, and the temperature drops gradually. There is a saying called "Qiu Qiu in a thousand years, one night is cold-one night". Starting from the Millennium solar terms, according to the standard of dividing the four seasons by climatology, all localities began to enter autumn one after another. At this time, the temperature difference between day and night in China can reach 8C- 16℃, so the Millennium is also the solar term with the largest temperature difference in a year, so you can always keep a coat at your side.

The origin of white deer

During the white dew, the summer monsoon is gradually replaced by the winter monsoon, and the cold air changes from defense to attack. In addition, when the direct point of the sun moves south, the sunshine time in the northern hemisphere becomes shorter, the light intensity weakens, and the ground radiation dissipates heat quickly, so the cooling speed gradually accelerates. The Millennium basically ended the sweltering heat in summer, and the weather gradually turned cold, and the cold gave birth to dew condensation. The ancients used four seasons to match five elements. Autumn belongs to gold, gold and white alternate with each other, and autumn dew is described in white, hence the name "White Dew".

In the Millennium, people usually eat longan, sweet potato and rice wine, collect "ten kinds of whites" and drink green tea.

Eat longan

There is a traditional saying in Fuzhou that "the Millennium must eat longan". Thousand-year-old longan was big, with small core and sweet taste, so it is better to eat thousand-year-old longan, whether it is a real tonic or not.

Eat sweet potatoes

People believe that eating sweet potatoes in Bailuyuan can prevent stomach acid after eating sweet potatoes and shredded sweet potatoes all the year round, so farmers used to eat sweet potatoes in Bailuyuan in the past.

Drink rice wine

Zixing Xingning, Sandu and Liaojiang have always had wine-making customs. Every year on the Millennium Festival, every family will make wine and drink "local wine" when receiving guests. Its wine temperature is spicy and slightly sweet, so it is called "Bailu rice wine".

Collect "Ten White Samples"

On this day, people in Wenzhou, Zhejiang collect "ten kinds of whites" (there are also "three kinds of whites") and snuggle up with black-bone white-haired chickens (or ducks). These "ten kinds of white" are ten kinds of herbs with the word "white", such as Trichoderma, white hair bitter and so on, which literally corresponds to "white dew"

Drink green tea

Old Nanjing, which loves tea, is very fond of "Bailu Tea". At this time, the tea tree is in the excellent growth period after the summer heat.
