Types and Selection of Gas Flowmeters

The types and choices of gas flow meters are: vortex type, target type, V-cone type, Wileba type and orifice plate type.

1, vortex street type

Vortex flowmeter is generally used to measure the flow of medium fluid in industrial pipelines, such as liquid, steam, gas and other media. It has the characteristics of high precision, small pressure loss and large measuring range. When measuring the volume flow in working state, it is almost unaffected by the parameters such as fluid density/pressure, viscosity and temperature.

This immovable mechanical part has high reliability, small maintenance and long-term stability of instrument parameters. This kind of instrument adopts piezoelectric stress sensor, so it has high reliability and can generally work in the working temperature range of -20℃ ~+250℃.

This flowmeter usually has analog standard signal and digital pulse signal output, which is convenient for use with digital systems such as computers. It is an advanced and ideal flowmeter on the market at present.

2. Target type

Target flowmeter has been applied to industrial flow measurement since 1960s, generally used to measure the flow of gas, liquid and steam, and mainly used to solve the flow measurement of high viscosity and low Reynolds number fluids. This flowmeter has gone through two development stages: barometer and watt-hour meter.

SST and SBL, two kinds of intelligent target flowmeter, are new flowmeters based on the original strain gauge target flowmeter measurement principle, using chip II capacitive force sensor as the measuring and sensitive transmission element and adopting modern digital intelligent processing technology.

3.v-cone type

V-cone flowmeter is widely used in petrochemical industry, natural gas and other fields because of its simple structure, strong versatility, low price, durability and easy replication. V-cone flowmeter makes up for the defects of standard orifice plate, venturi tube, nozzle and other throttling devices, such as easy wear, large pressure loss, high field installation conditions, long straight pipe section and small range ratio.

It can accurately measure the flow of various fluids in a wide Reynolds number range. Compared with ordinary differential pressure flowmeter, STV series V-cone flowmeter has the characteristics of long-term stability, good repeatability, high precision, little restriction by installation conditions, wear resistance, suitability for dirty media, small pressure loss, wide measuring range and long service life.

This flowmeter is suitable for many fields, generally suitable for measuring gas, liquefied petroleum gas, water, oil, various liquids, steam, air, oil residue, natural gas, organic gas and so on.

4. Wilba type

Willeba flowmeter is mainly suitable for high-precision flow measurement of gas, liquid and steam. Wiliba is a differential pressure and rate average flow sensor, which measures the flow through the differential pressure generated by the sensor in the fluid.

Wiliba can reflect the true velocity of fluid, with accuracy of 65438 0.0% and repeatability of 0.65438 0%. One of the outstanding advantages of Wiliba is that it can output a very stable and pulse-free differential pressure signal.

5, orifice plate type

Integrated orifice flowmeter is a high-range differential pressure flow device composed of standard orifice plate and multi-parameter differential pressure transmitter (or differential pressure transmitter, temperature transmitter and pressure transmitter), which can generally be used for the flow of gas, steam, liquid and natural gas, and is widely used in process control and measurement in petroleum, chemical industry, heating, water supply, metallurgy, electric power and other fields.
