The custom of rain and solar terms

Rain is the second of the 24 solar terms. Every February 19 or so, when the longitude of the sun reaches 330 degrees. The last few days of the rainy solar term are February 2, and folks say that when the dragon looks up, people eat dragon beard cakes and miss the dragon that was punished and crushed under the mountain because of the rain during the drought.

According to the old custom in the north, on February 2nd, everyone has to get a haircut, which means that the dragon looks up and prays for good luck. Hairdressing children is called shaving taps. Women are not allowed to sew, for fear of hurting dzi beads.

People can't carry water from the well, but they should fill their water tanks on the first day, or they will touch the tap.

On this day, ordinary people eat noodles, spring cakes, popcorn, pork head and so on. Different regions have different foods, but most of them are related to dragons. Generally, the name of dragon is added to the name of food, such as eating jiaozi like eating dragon ears, eating spring cakes like eating Long Lin, eating noodles like eating dragon beard meat, eating rice like eating dragon seeds, and eating wonton like eating longan.
