Working principle of disa valve on BMW intake pipe

Working principle DME control unit adjusts the sliding sleeve through DISA servo motor and integrated transmission mechanism. The DME control unit stores whether it is an upshift or a downshift. Below 4400 revolutions per minute, DME control unit will use DISA servo motor to close the sliding sleeve. When the speed exceeds 4500 rpm, the sliding sleeve will reopen. The speed of these switches is delayed from each other to prevent frequent opening and closing.

What is the function of the intake pipe system?

Bmw N46 B20 engine has a two-stage variable intake system (DISA), as shown in figure 1. DISA servo motor drives one sliding sleeve per cylinder. These sliding sleeves can lengthen or shorten the intake pipe. In this way, rich torque changes can be realized when the engine speed is low, and engine power will not be lost when the engine speed is high.

The air intake system consists of an air filter, an air flowmeter, an intake pressure sensor, a throttle body, an additional air valve, an idle speed control valve, a resonant cavity, a power cavity and an intake manifold. A complete intake system can be divided into two parts: engine intake manifold system and intake system.
