Nowadays, different places in China have different solstice customs. For example, in the northwest of China, such as Shaanxi, Zongzi is eaten on the solstice in summer, and chrysanthemums are used as ashes to prevent wheat from being damaged by pests.

In the south, people weigh themselves to see if they are fat or thin. Farmers roll pancakes with vegetables, pods, tofu and bacon, bake them, eat them after ancestor worship or give them to relatives and friends. In some areas, during the summer solstice, it is a habit for underage nephews and nieces to eat at their parents' homes.
