What are the legends about Cangjie's word-making in ancient times?
There are two kinds of legends about Cangjie's word-making: first, Cang Xie was the recorder of Fuxi era, Fuxi wrote a book contract, and Cang Xie was a full-time official of word-making; Another way of saying this is that Cang Xie was a historian in the era of the Yellow Emperor. The legendary Cang Xie was brilliant and had four eyes on his face. He can observe the changes of the sun, moon and stars from above and the evolution of mountains and rivers from below. Inspired by the omen of all things in nature, he pictographs and understands each other, thus creating Chinese characters. After the success of Cangjie's word-making, ghosts and gods cried in the dark and moved God to help him.
There are various records about the creation of characters in Cangjie in many ancient books. According to Records of the Five Emperors, Cang Xie was the left history of the Yellow Emperor and was ordered to create characters. There is also the legend of Cangjie's word-making in Hanshu Yiwenzhi. Yang Xiong and Du Lin wrote Xun CuO in Cang Xie respectively, which is also in the preface of Shuowen.
