Midsummer is the fifth month of the lunar calendar.

The ancients used "fierce, moderate and extreme" to mean "first, second and smallest", so summer was divided into three periods in chronological order: Xia Meng, midsummer and Xia Ji. Midsummer refers to the second month of summer, which is midsummer.
