What causes epilepsy in the elderly?
Epilepsy, commonly known as lamb wind, is a chronic brain disease characterized by recurrent and transient central nervous system dysfunction caused by abnormal discharge of brain neurons.
There are two forces in the human brain: preventing discharge and promoting discharge. In general, there is a good balance between the two. When the power to promote discharge is too strong or the power to prevent discharge is weakened, the balance between them will be broken, leading to abnormal discharge, which will lead to clinical seizures.
Epilepsy is mainly caused by genetic factors, pathological changes of epilepsy in the brain and induced factors, and no single factor can cause epilepsy. Common reasons include: 1. Congenital diseases 2, prenatal and perinatal diseases 3, epilepsy after febrile convulsion 4, craniocerebral trauma 5, intracranial infection 6, intracranial tumor 7, cerebrovascular disease 8, poisoning 9, nutritional metabolic diseases 10, other diseases.
