Silkworm babies go through four stages of development: egg, larva, pupa and moth.

The growth of silkworm is generally 8-9 days in incubation period, about 25 days in larval stage, from 14 days to 18 days in pupal stage, and 3-5 days in silkworm moth stage.

The first stage of silkworm baby's growth is silkworm eggs, which are round and transparent at birth and will turn black after a period of time. The newly hatched larvae are black and have fine hairs all over their bodies. At this time, it is necessary to provide fresh mulberry leaves to supplement its nutrition. The third stage is cocoon formation, at which time it has the ability to spin and cocoon. Silkworm babies are adults in the fourth stage, and it takes ten days to break out after cocoon production.

Matters needing attention in sericulture

Silkworm is a kind of creature that is very afraid of cold, so we should pay attention to the temperature when raising silkworm. Usually April and May are the best time to raise silkworms. At this time, the temperature is basically around 20 to 25 degrees, so we don't need to pay much attention to adjusting the temperature of the feeding room. Therefore, by adjusting the temperature, sericulture in other seasons gradually appeared.

When raising silkworms, you should pay attention to the fact that mulberry leaves are best fresh. If mulberry leaves are not fresh for a long time, silkworms will have diarrhea or not eat them. Secondly, it should be noted that mulberry leaves must be cleaned without dust, and at the same time, don't feed dew to silkworms or mulberry leaves that have not been dried after cleaning.
