What do you mean by rain in solar terms and summer heat?
The high temperature during the hot summer is a normal climate phenomenon. At this time, if the light is insufficient, the growth of warm crops such as rice and cotton will be affected. However, the continuous high temperature weather for a long time is very unfavorable to the growth of crops such as rice. There is an agricultural proverb in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River: "It is a bit dry if it doesn't rain for five days, a bit dry if it doesn't rain for ten days, and it doesn't rain in January." It can be seen that high temperature and little rain are the conditions for the formation of summer drought, and the harm of continuous large-scale high temperature drought in summer drought areas is sometimes greater than local floods. In addition to drought prevention in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, it is also necessary to prevent drought in Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia and the eastern part of southwest China, especially in eastern Sichuan and Chongqing.
In fact, summer drought does not happen every year. If the subtropical high is weak in midsummer and located to the south, or there are one or two typhoons or thunderstorms from time to time in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, there will be no large-scale summer drought.
The so-called "seven drops and eight liters" means that from late July to early August, the rainstorm weather in North China (Inner Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi, Beijing, Tianjin), Huanghuai area (Shandong, Henan), Southeast China and parts of Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia on the Loess Plateau is relatively concentrated during this period. Therefore, "seven downs and eight ups" has become synonymous with the critical period of flood control.
During this period, the northern region is often hot and humid. Only when the cold air in the north cooperates with the warm and humid airflow from the south or the East China Sea will there be one or two decent rainstorms, which can alleviate the heat in summer. Rainstorms often replenish much-needed water for crops in these areas, but if strong convective weather and excessive rain occur at the same time, floods and mudslides often occur locally.
