Xiaoman is one of the twenty-four solar terms, the second solar term in summer, and it is Xiaoman when the sun reaches 60 degrees of the yellow meridian from May 20 to 22 every year. After Xiaoman eats enough, the weather will gradually turn from warm to hot, and the precipitation will gradually increase. There is a saying in the folk proverb that "the villain is full of rivers". Xiaoman marks the appearance of summer. At this point, it is too small to be full: summer crops such as wheat are full but immature, so it is called Xiao Man.
"Full" has two meanings. The first meaning is related to crop growth. After Xiaoman, wheat and other crops in northern China are at the stage when the seed material will be full to the filling stage, so it is called Xiaoman.
The second meaning is related to precipitation. In the south of China, the word "full" is used to describe the amount of water, and there is a saying that "the ridge will be dried up when it is full", which means that if the water in the field is not enough, the ridge may crack.
