What is the adjustment sequence of 6-cylinder Cummins valve?

When adjusting the 6-cylinder Cummins valve, firstly loosen the lock nut and adjusting screw, insert the feeler gauge with the same thickness as the specified valve clearance into the gap between the adjusted valve foot and the rocker arm, rotate the adjusting screw and pull the feeler gauge back and forth. When the feeler gauge has slight resistance, it should be rechecked after tightening the lock nut. If the gap changes, it should be readjusted.

There are two main methods to adjust the valve clearance:

1. Cylinder-by-cylinder adjustment method: The cylinder-by-cylinder adjustment method only needs to rotate each cylinder to the top dead center of the compression stroke of the cylinder (when the intake valve and exhaust valve are completely closed) to adjust the valve clearance of the cylinder. This method needs to find the top dead center of the compression stroke of each cylinder and remember the power sequence of various types of engines (gasoline engine is the ignition sequence and diesel engine is the fuel injection sequence).

2. Twice adjustment method: Twice adjustment method is to adjust all valves on the engine twice. The method is simple in operation and high in working efficiency. No matter how many cylinders there are, they can only be adjusted twice.
