Where are the respiratory organs of locusts?

The respiratory organ of locusts is trachea, which is located in the chest and abdomen of locusts.

On both sides of the first section of the abdomen of locusts, there are a pair of half-moon membranes, which are the auditory organs of locusts. A row of small holes arranged neatly on the left and right sides is the valve. Each valve is connected to the trachea inward, and the trachea keeps branching, and finally the tiny branches communicate with each cell for gas exchange.

Locust is a common insect, belonging to Orthoptera and Acridoidea. They usually live in grasslands, fields, forests and wilderness. Grasshopper's body structure is very simple, consisting of head, chest and abdomen. The abdomen of locusts is the last section of the body, which is tubular and can be bent and stretched. There is a fork-shaped ovipositor at the end of the abdomen for laying eggs.

The head of a locust has a pair of antennae, a pair of compound eyes and a pair of fan-shaped wings. The function of compound eyes is to help locusts perceive the change of light. Below the head is the chest, which has three pairs of feet. At the end of each foot, there is a claw and a pair of suction cups, which can catch objects and food. There are also air holes on both sides of the chest for breathing air.

Grasshoppers mainly feed on plants.

Especially herbs. They will breed in grasslands, fields and forests, especially in warm and humid environments. Locusts are very prolific, and can lay about 50 eggs at a time.

Locusts are also social insects and live in groups. They will transmit information through tentacles and vibrations and coordinate the actions of groups. When locusts feel threatened, they will warn people by flapping their wings and making noises.

Besides being a link in the food chain, locusts have some economic value. In some areas, locusts are used as food, especially in Asian countries. Locusts also have some medicinal value, which can be used to treat some diseases, such as infantile convulsion.
