This is mentioned by Mr. Jin in the preface of the updated edition of Spring in the Classroom. After reading these words and the whole book, I am deeply touched.

This book is a book about class management recommended by the teacher during college. It hasn't been published in Chinese mainland. I took it from the teacher and copied it. This book provides me with a wealth of information: background theoretical knowledge, the most important practical exercises, and some experienced teachers' feelings or responses to actual cases. Indeed, in today's educational environment, a good teacher can't be profound only in his own professional knowledge. How to manage the whole classroom atmosphere and deal with unexpected situations in the classroom is an important key to the success of teaching. Imagine: if a very top-notch and academically proficient teacher walks into the classroom, he can't control it completely, regardless of the noise and indifference of his classmates, and then turns a blind eye. He had to give lectures on the stage alone and lacked good communication with students. This will not only fail to achieve the teaching effect, but will make students more resistant to learning. In the book, I mentioned eight kinds of theories, among which the theory of "group dynamics" is my favorite and the most applicable. A class is like a small group, in which each student plays a different role.

If teachers can clearly grasp these roles, they will certainly make the class go smoothly. In addition, teachers should also play many different roles, for example, mediators: when disputes occur, teachers must act as mediators; Acting parents: Teachers are also the source of protection, recognition, emotion and advice; Learning assistant: guiding students' learning direction, preaching, teaching, solving doubts and so on. Therefore, the responsibility of teachers is quite important, which makes me have a good vigilance, makes me know how to listen, watch and learn more, and makes me a good teacher.

Another thing worth reading in this book is that examples are added at the back of each chapter for readers to practice, so that readers can clearly review some important contents they have seen in that chapter, or review unfamiliar places again. Briefly introduce the theory of "group dynamics";

Group motivation refers to the psychological force that affects individual behavior in a group. This power is hidden behind the "secret code" of group behavior. When these passwords are different from those set by the teacher, conflicts will break out. Therefore, as long as students' motivation is understood, classroom management can be said to be half finished.

Teachers shoulder the role that many students expect teachers to play. Sometimes teachers have no choice but to accept all these roles, but in general, teachers still have a choice of which roles to choose and which roles to undertake. Only when teachers decide to assume the same and consistent roles can the functions of the classroom run smoothly.

Many accidental situations in class may make students temporarily out of control. In this case, the way of punishment is unnecessary. Teachers are just helping students find the power of self-control. Providing emotional help does have many advantages, such as reducing doubts, allowing students to concentrate on their studies and establishing a friendly image of teachers who are helpful.

After reading this book, I can not only learn a lot of valuable knowledge and experience through the various types and concepts of class management provided by the author, but I think the most important thing is that teachers themselves need to care about students with "heart", otherwise it is disconsolate to understand these concepts and knowledge. For example, there have been many movies about the hot teacher, such as the story of the hot teacher, the crazy nun, the cowboy class and so on. Of course, the plot is a little exaggerated, and the average teacher is helpless to some rebellious students' classes, and even will discipline the whole class more severely, but we know that this is only a temporary solution, not a permanent cure. When the teacher was excluded from the class, he didn't know that the students who took the lead were responsible. They all agree that they are a hopeless class and can't learn. Whoever teaches bad luck usually takes them to the teacher who just came in. The teacher, the protagonist in the play, leads the class in a completely different way.
