Osmanthus fragrans is an evergreen tree or shrub in Oleaceae, and it is one of the top ten traditional famous flowers in China. Divided into Jingui, Yin Gui and Dangui by color. According to the flowering period, there are eight laurel trees, four-season laurel trees and a beautiful month. Osmanthus fragrans is one of the excellent ornamental and practical garden trees in southwest China, which integrates greening, beautification and fragrance. Sweet-scented osmanthus is fragrant on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month every year, which is refreshing. When will osmanthus be grafted? How to graft?

First, the grafting time of osmanthus fragrans

Osmanthus fragrans can be grafted in all seasons except winter. Before the scion germinates in spring, it is sheared, butted in summer and grafted with T-buds or big buds in autumn.

Second, the grafting method of osmanthus fragrans

1, rootstock selection, commonly used as rootstock, such as Ligustrum lucidum, small wax, Ligustrum lucidum, ash tree, willow tree, etc.

2. Grafting method

Cutting: In the grafting method, the position of the cutting anvil is slightly down to the cutting anvil at one-third to one-fifth of the cross section. The cutting method of the scion is long section and short section, and the thickness of both sides of the section is similar. When cutting the scion, the long section is inward and the short section is outward, and it is advisable to expose only one line of white when cutting the scion. When dressing, special attention should be paid to sticking the outer layer of the rootstock incision on the scion, and then tying it tightly with plastic film.

Docking: For the convenience of operation, rootstocks or scions should be planted in pots first, so that they can be close to each other. Branches with similar thickness should be selected for docking. When grafting, the rootstock should be cut into 4-6 cm long cuts at the junction of the two branches of the scion, and the depth should reach the xylem. Then the cambium of the two branches should be attached tightly, tied tightly with plastic film, and the lower part of the scion should be cut off after the grafting survives.

T-shaped bud grafting: buds are used as scions when budding, and the buds have only a small amount of xylem, then the rootstock stems are peeled or T-shaped incision is made, and then grafting is carried out. After grafting, tie it tightly with plastic film tape. 2-3 weeks after grafting, the plastic film tape can be removed. The rootstock can be cut off at the interface of 10 cm without germination in the same year after survival. Attention should be paid to removing the new shoots of rootstocks in the next spring.
