Who is Tomb-Sweeping Day commemorating?

On the way, a follower stole all the dry food and travel expenses and fled into the mountains, leaving Zhong Er and his team without food. They had to eat wild vegetable bark to satisfy their hunger, and they had to continue their journey. Childe Zhong Er grew up in the palace since childhood. He couldn't eat wild vegetables, and his body became thinner day by day. Finally, he fell ill one day.

Jiezitui cut a piece of meat from his thigh and cooked it into soup for his son Zhong Er. It is said to be sparrow soup. Jin Wengong wept bitterly and was extremely sad. He buried Jiexiu's mother and son under the willow tree and ordered the people not to cook on the anniversary of Jiexiu's death. In the second year, Jin Wengong went up the mountain to worship meson push. When he went to the grave, he found that the willow tree pushed by meson came back from the dead and grew green branches. Jin Wengong looked at this revived willow tree, which resembled meson push, and took a willow branch back to the palace and put it in front of the door, meaning that meson push can be seen every day, and called it "Tomb-Sweeping Day willow". In order to commemorate meson push, there is also a custom of folding willow branches in front of the door, which gradually evolved into.

According to textual research, the origin of Tomb-Sweeping Day has nothing to do with meson push. As a Spring Festival, Tomb-Sweeping Day was determined long before the Zhou Dynasty. China has a vast territory, and there were different customs between the north and the south in the pre-Qin period. At that time, many festivals and customs were rarely recorded in the literature. In the development and evolution of history, most traditional festivals are regarded as "origin" by a legend attached to them.
