In what month does Huangmei Day begin and end?

Huangmeitian started in mid-June and ended in mid-July. After mid-June, the rain belt remained in the Jianghuai basin. Because it was the mature period of plums in the south of the Yangtze River, it was called "Plum Rain", and the time that the rain belt stayed was called "Plum Rain Season". "Meiyu" occurs between the two solar terms of "Mangzhong" and "Summer Solstice". Meiyu period is about 20~30 days, and the rainfall is between 200~400 mm.

There is a proverb: "If you walk in the spring breeze, there will be summer rain". Spring breeze refers to the east wind, and summer rain refers to the plum rain. The proverb means that in the years with more easterly winds in spring, there are generally more plum rains in summer.

In some years, the rainy season starts very early and suddenly comes at the end of May and the beginning of June. Meteorologically, the plum rain that began before "Mangzi" is generally called "early plum rain". The early plum rains will bring some abnormal phenomena. The chance of early plum rain is roughly once in ten years.

There are more opportunities for late meiyu than early meiyu. Because the solar term is already very late when the late Meiyu begins, once the warm and humid air flows northward, its power is very strong. At the same time, the solar radiation is also relatively strong, and the air is prone to strong convection after being heated, so there are often thunderstorms and showers in the later period of Meiyu.

The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River are located in the middle latitude of the eastern part of Eurasia. On the one hand, it is affected by the cold air from the cold zone to the south, and on the other hand, it is affected by the warm and humid air from the tropical ocean to the north.
