Customs and activities related to the Day of the Dead in Mexico
In Guatemala City, the capital of Guatemala, people fly kites to celebrate the festival. In the local traditional religion, kites are the link between the dead world and the human world, and can guide the dead back to their relatives.
During the Day of the Dead, Mexicans will take the bodies of deceased relatives out of the cemetery, wash them carefully and bury them again.
