Tomb-Sweeping Day, also known as the outing festival, is one of the traditional festivals in China, and it is also one of the most important sacrificial festivals. It is at the turn of mid-spring and late spring, that is, 104 days after the winter solstice. This is the day to worship ancestors and sweep graves.
The traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day of the Han nationality in China began in the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,500 years. Influenced by the Han culture, 24 ethnic minorities in China, such as Manchu, Hezhe, Zhuang, Oroqen, Dong, Tujia, Miao, Yao, Li, Shui, Jing and Qiang, also have the customs of Tomb-Sweeping Day. Although customs vary from place to place, sweeping graves to worship ancestors and outing are the basic themes.
Tomb-Sweeping Day originally meant grave-sweeping day, and the government of the Republic of China designated 15 days after the vernal equinox in 935 as a national holiday, also known as the national grave-sweeping day. On May 20th, 2006, with the approval of the State Council, Tomb-Sweeping Day was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage list.

Someone used to put kites in the blue sky, then cut the strings and let the breeze send them to the ends of the earth. 1, Qingming: At first, it was a very important solar term, which meant sunny weather and lush vegetation. Between April 4th and 6th every year, it is a season of bright spring and lush vegetation, and it is also a good time for people to have a spring outing.

As a festival, it also contains certain customs and activities and some commemorative significance.
Third, the source of Tomb-Sweeping Day.
When we talk about Tomb-Sweeping Day, we will naturally think of the historical figure meson tui. It is said that in the Spring and Autumn Period more than two thousand years ago, Zhong Er, the son of the State of Jin, fled and lived a hard life. Follow his meson to push his hand and cut a piece of meat from his leg to satisfy his hunger. Later, Zhong Er returned to the State of Jin, became the monarch (Jin Wengong), and rewarded all his followers in exile. However, Jiezitui refused to accept the reward and took his mother to live in seclusion in Mianshan.
Jin Wengong was at his wit's end, so he had to let Yamakaji go. He thought that meson tui would be filial to his mother and would definitely come out with her. Who knows, the fire burned for three days and nights, and the mother and son pushed a charred willow tree and died. Jin Wengong found that meson's skirt was blocked by her back in the willow cave, and wrote such a blood poem:
I hope your master is always clear. It is better to be a ghost than to accompany you as an exhorter. If your master has me in his heart, remember that I often reflect. I have a clear conscience in Jiuquan, diligent and honest. In order to commemorate Jie Zitui, Jin Wengong ordered that no fire should be lit on this day every year, and every household can only eat cold food, which is the origin of the Cold Food Festival. The day before the Tomb-Sweeping Day Cold Food Festival, the ancients often extended the activities of the Cold Food Festival to Qingming. Over time, people combine cold food with Qingming. Now, Tomb-Sweeping Day has replaced the Cold Food Festival.
Fourth, the ancient customs of Tomb-Sweeping Day.
1. Considering that old people and children can't stand the cold, there are various outdoor fitness activities to prevent cold food and cold meals from harming their health.
(1) Fly a kite. After flying kites in the blue sky, cut the strings and let the breeze send them to the ends of the earth. It is said that this can eliminate diseases and disasters.
(2) Go for an outing, which was called Tanchun and Xunchun in ancient times. March is clear, spring returns to the earth, and nature is full of vitality everywhere, which is a good time to go for an outing. People in our country have always maintained the habit of going for an outing in Qingming.
(3) Bow is a kind of ball, the skin of the ball is made of leather, and the ball is stuffed with wool. Cuju is kicking the ball with your feet. This is a popular game in ancient Tomb-Sweeping Day. According to legend, it was invented by the Yellow Emperor with the original purpose of training warriors.
(4) This is the custom of ancient Tomb-Sweeping Day in China. Swing, that is, lift the rope, move. It has a very long history. It was originally called Qian Qiu, but later it was changed into a swing to avoid taboos. In ancient times, swings were made of branches and tied with ribbons. Later, it gradually developed into two ropes, a pedal swing. Playing swing can not only improve health, but also cultivate courage, which is deeply loved by people, especially children.
(5) Inserting willows and crossing willows are the three major ghost festivals in China, namely, Tomb-Sweeping Day, July 30th and October New Year. In order to prevent the harassment and persecution of ghosts, people insert and wear willows. Willow has the function of ward off evil spirits in people's minds, and Guanyin helps all beings with branches dipped in water. Willow has a strong vitality, as the saying goes: "intentional planting of flowers, unintentional planting of willows." Wicker lives when inserted in the soil, lives where it is inserted, and goes down year after year, and it becomes gloomy everywhere. Besides these ancient customs, Tomb-Sweeping Day is also a festival to commemorate ancestors, and the main way to commemorate ancestors is to sweep graves. What do you know about sweeping graves?
