Planting method and time of water chestnut

Water chestnut is usually sown when the local water temperature is stable above 10℃, and generally harvested every 7- 10 days. When harvesting, it should be picked lightly and not missed.

2. Planting method of water chestnut

(1) Selecting seeds to accelerate germination: Water chestnut should be selected to accelerate germination before sowing. When selecting seeds, the water chestnut seeds can be put into the water, and the withered water chestnut seeds floating on the water surface can be fished out and removed. Then, find a deep plate, put the water chestnut seeds flat on the bottom of the plate, pour 5-7cm of water to accelerate germination, and change the water every three days until the water chestnut seeds grow to 1.

(2) Sowing in the soil: select a plot with deep silt and fertile soil, and the water level can be controlled at 0.5- 1cm. Scatter water seeds evenly in the silt, gradually deepen the water level after the seedlings come out of the water, and stop adding water until the water level approaches the planting water level.

(3) Transplanting and planting: Generally, two months after sowing, water chestnut seedlings are pulled out of the water and transplanted into ponds for planting, with the plant spacing controlled at 2-3m and the water depth controlled at about 2m in peak season. Pay attention to the water depth should be fixed, and ups and downs are not allowed.

(4) Fertilization and maintenance: Water chestnut has a certain demand for fertilizer and water. Before transplanting seedlings and planting, sufficient fertilizer should be applied in the pond to prevent water chestnut from growing thin and yellow stems and leaves due to lack of fertilizer. After transplanting, if the rhombic disc is found to be inverted, it should be turned straight in time.
