Is sealant used to replace valve cover gasket?
Replace the bonnet gasket as follows: 1. Firstly, remove the bonnet screws diagonally from both sides, pry the bonnet loose with a straight knife, and take out the bonnet gasket; 2. Clean the valve cover with cleaning agent, clean the contact surface between the valve cover and the cylinder head, install the valve cover gasket, apply sealant, and tighten the screws diagonally from the middle to both sides; 3. Replace the paper pad. No sealant is needed to replace the bonnet gasket. Oil leakage from the valve cover gasket will lead to poor air tightness of the engine, affect the normal operation of the engine, and even lead to engine scrapping. It should be noted that the paper pad of the original fittings is used to clean the two joint surfaces of the engine and the valve cover. Apply butter evenly on both sides of the paper pad, align with the positioning column, put it away, cover the valve cover and tighten the valve cover evenly, which is the fixing bolt.
