The causes of BMW x3' s warm start are: air temperature sensor, coolant temperature sensor, throttle position sensor, air flow meter/intake pressure sensor failure, switch signal failure, idle speed control valve failure, throttle body failure, fuel injector failure, true /[k0/] air leakage, engine control unit failure or improper matching setting.

When troubleshooting the abnormally high idle speed of the engine, perform the following steps:

1. Check whether the throttle valve is completely closed at idle speed and whether the throttle cable is stuck. Turn the throttle rocker arm to the closing direction by hand. If the engine idle speed can be reduced to normal speed, it means that the throttle is not closed tightly. If the throttle cable is stuck, replace the cable; If the throttle shaft is stuck, remove and clean the throttle body.

2. Check the additional air valve. Clamp the air inlet hose of the additional air valve wrapped with soft cloth with pliers. If the engine idle speed can be reduced to normal speed, it means that the additional air valve cannot be closed after preheating. Check whether the power cord of the additional air valve is normal. If it is normal, replace the additional air valve.

3. Check the idle speed control valve. Unplug the harness plug of the idle speed control valve after the engine is turned off, and then plug it in after the engine is started. If the engine changes accordingly, the idle speed control valve works normally; Otherwise, check the control circuit or replace the idle control valve.
