When does the dog days start?
The dog days are counted from the third Geng day after the summer solstice solar terms. The beginning and end of the dog days are not determined by whether the weather is hot or not, but by the days between the summer solstice solar terms and the beginning of the autumn solar terms. There are four Geng days, 30 days in dog days, five Geng days and 40 days in dog days during this period.
