What does automobile ASR mean?

Automobile ASR refers to traction control system, which is full name of accelerating slip adjustment, also known as TCS or TRC. The function of traction control system is to make the car get the best traction under various driving conditions.

When the car is driving on the slippery road, the driving wheel without ASR is easy to slip when accelerating. If the rear drive wheel slips, the car will easily flick its tail. If the front drive wheel slips, the direction of the car will easily get out of control. With ASR, the car will not have or can alleviate this phenomenon when accelerating. When turning, if the driving wheel slips, the whole vehicle will shift to one side, and when there is ASR, the vehicle will turn along the correct route.

Principle of extended data traction control system

Traction control system mainly uses engine ignition timing, gearbox gear and oil supply system to control the slip of driving wheels. When ASR senses wheel slip, it will first change the ignition time of the engine through the engine control computer, reduce the engine torque output or apply braking to the wheel to prevent wheel slip. If the wheel slips badly, it will control the engine oil supply system.

The difference between ASR and ABS is that ABS detects when the tire is locked by sensors, and then reduces the braking force of the wheel to prevent locking. It will quickly change the braking force to make the wheels on the verge of locking, while ASR mainly uses the engine ignition time, gearbox gear and oil supply system to control the driving wheel slip.
