How often do you usually clean the accelerator of your car?

There is no strict limit on the frequency of cleaning the throttle, which has a lot to do with car habits and environment. If it is dirty, it should be washed. Phenomenologically, when the idle speed is unstable, cleaning should be considered.

Under normal circumstances, the 4S shop will advise the owner to clean about 20,000 kilometers. Of course, different models have different situations, and some throttles are easy to get dirty. It is not unusual to clean seven or eight thousand kilometers when it is serious.

Cleaning the throttle requires a special cleaning agent, the scientific name is carburetor cleaning agent. This kind of products are sold in auto parts city and online, and the price ranges from tens of yuan to tens of yuan. Generally, a bottle can be cleaned about twice.

Because the cleaning agent is corrosive, a pair of gloves should be prepared when disassembling to prevent the cleaning agent from corroding the skin and being scratched.

There are not many tools to clean the throttle, just one or two screwdrivers. However, for friends who usually like to toss cars, it is quite practical to have a toolbox in the car, which can be used when washing cars.

How to clean the car throttle?

First of all, if there is a plastic heat shield on the engine, it needs to be removed first.

After the hood is removed, we can usually see the throttle. There are some windpipes around the throttle. We need to dismantle these pipes and find out the location of each pipe.

After removing the gas pipe from the throttle, we can remove the whole throttle. Trent's throttle is fixed on the engine block with four bolts, and we can quickly remove it with suitable tools.

The side of the throttle near the combustion chamber is generally dirty with black carbon deposit, which is the main part we need to clean.

Cleaning the throttle is mainly to remove carbon deposits on it. We can use special throttling cleaning liquid or detergent. It should be noted here that the cleaning principle of this cleaning agent is to dissolve carbon deposits, and its composition is harmful to human body, so it is best to wear gloves and masks when cleaning. Spray the cleaning agent to the position with more carbon deposits on the throttle and wait for it to dissolve the carbon deposits for about 5- 10 minutes. Using brushes can speed up the removal of carbon deposits.

When we see that the stain on the accelerator has completely dissolved, we can wipe the detergent inside the accelerator with a clean towel. The picture above shows the clean back of the throttle, and there is no trace of carbon deposit at all.

Install the cleaned throttle valve on the machine body according to the original position, and then install all the air pipes to complete the whole cleaning process of the throttle valve. After all the hardware is installed, we need to initialize the throttle valve. After the throttle is initialized, the car can be used normally.
