What is the last solar term in a year?
As we all know, the so-called 24 solar terms are determined according to the solar cycle, but the lunar calendar in China is a combination of yin and yang. That is, according to the sun and the moon. The 365 days and a quarter of a day in a year are divided into 24 segments and 12 months, reflecting the changes of seasons, temperatures and phenology. Every month is divided into two sections, the beginning of which is called "solar terms" and the middle of which is called "neutral atmosphere". In other words, every month in the lunar calendar has a festival and a qi. "Festival" is the beginning of the month, and the last day of "Qi" is the end of the month. Namely:
The first month: beginning of spring is a festival, rain is a breath, and so on;
February's fright (festival), spring equinox (festival), March's Qingming (festival), Grain Rain (festival), April's long summer (festival), Xiaoman (festival), May's mango (festival), summer (festival), June's light summer (festival) and July's beginning of autumn (festival).
Looking at "eight characters" and "numerology" in the study of "Four Pillars" means only looking at solar terms and not looking at qi. This is also the reason why I have the above speculation.
Because in the lunar calendar, the 24 solar terms are pushed by the month, and some lunar months fall at the end of the month, and there will be no gas next month. Generally, there will be a month without gas every two years, which coincides with the year when leap months are needed. Therefore, the lunar calendar stipulates that non-neutral months are regarded as leap months, and the following months are called leap months.
Although the twenty-four solar terms were established in ancient times as supplementary legislation to guide farming, there were only four solar terms in Shang Dynasty, eight in Zhou Dynasty and twenty-four in Qin and Han Dynasties. Taichu calendar, written by Deng Ping in BC 104, officially revised the 24 solar terms into the calendar.
The names of the twenty-four solar terms first appeared in Huainanzi Astronomical Training.
So the last solar term is the Great Cold.
