What's the difference between meteorology, weather and climate?
The earth is covered with a thick layer of air, called the atmosphere. In the atmosphere, we see various physical and chemical states and phenomena such as cloudy, sunny, cold, warm, dry, wet, rain, snow, fog, wind and thunder, and meteorology is their general name.
Weather and climate are interrelated. Weather refers to the short-term atmospheric conditions in an area. The 24-hour and 48-hour weather forecasts we hear on radio and TV are about the weather.
On the other hand, climate is the average weather condition and its changing characteristics in a region for many years. According to the World Meteorological Organization, 30 years' record is the shortest time to obtain climate characteristics. In ancient China, there were five days of weather and three days of weather. There were 24 solar terms and 72 weather in a year, each with its own meteorological and phenological characteristics, which were collectively called climate.
