Special stories of national festivals
Legend has it that a long time ago, A Dai village near Jinsha River lived in the deep forest. Because of the forest fire, the villagers are in danger of being swallowed up by the fire. Li Liang, a native of A Dai, rushed out of the fire net to protect the village and carried water from the Jinsha River to water the mountain fire.
After a day and a night of hard work, the mountain fire was finally put out and the villagers were saved. Li Liang was so tired that he fell to the mountain. The villagers called clear water to quench Li Liang's thirst, but he couldn't quench his thirst after drinking 99 barrels of water. Later, Li Liang simply jumped into the river and became a dragon, drifting down the river. Some people say that he has become a big tree.
Dai people commemorate Li Liang every year.
