It's cold in winter, and the snow often doesn't melt easily. The snow covered on the soil is soft, and there is a lot of stagnant air hidden inside. Air doesn't transfer heat, just like covering a quilt for crops. No matter how cold it is outside, the temperature below will not drop very low.

Snowfall after light snow solar terms is commonly known as Xue Rui. Snow covers the earth like a wonderful carpet, so that the ground temperature will not drop too low because of the cold in winter, which is beneficial to the growth of crops. Therefore, it means that timely winter snow indicates that the coming year will be a bumper year, which is a sign of bumper crops in the coming year.
