What is the origin of Xiaoman? Folklore related to Xiaoman.
The origin of Xiao Man
The earliest written record about the origin of Xiaoman is in the book "Twenty-four Solar Terms", which records: "In mid-April, when Xiaoman was full, things were small and full. Xiaoman has two definitions of "full". One is to describe the fullness of farmers' crops, and the other is to describe the situation of excessive and insufficient rain. At this time, the seeds of summer sowing crops such as wheat in the north have begun to be full, but they are not yet mature, which is about the late stage of milk ripening, so it is called Xiaoman. Agricultural proverbs in southern China give Xiaoman a new meaning: "Xiaoman is dissatisfied and breaks the ridge"; Small full of discontent, regardless of mango. "Use the word' full' to describe the amount of rain, and point out that if there is not enough water in the field at a young age, the ridge of the field may crack, and even rice can't be planted when planted.
Climatic characteristics of Xiao Man
When Xiaoman is full, summer has completely arrived and the south has entered the rainy season. At this time, the number of rains will increase and the rainfall will be large. If the cold air in the north can penetrate deep into the south of China, and the warm and humid airflow in the south is also strong, it will easily cause heavy rain or torrential rain in South China. Therefore, the late Xiaoman solar term is often the tense stage of flood control in these areas. For the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, if there is less rain at this stage, it may be that the Pacific subtropical high is weak and located in the south, which means that the precipitation in Huangmei season may be less. If you are not satisfied, it must be a dry year with little rain.
Rezu's birthday.
In folklore, Xiaoman is Leizu's birthday, and junior high school history books record that Leizu is the inventor of sericulture and reeling technology. Leizu specializes in making clothes for people. One day, members of the tribe picked some small white fruits from mulberry trees on the mountain. These fruits were tasteless and could not be chewed, so they were given to Lei Zu. The next day, Lei Zu explored the mountain, only to know that these white fruits were made of silkworms spitting filaments, so she reported the matter to the Yellow Emperor and asked him to order the protection of mulberry trees. Under the advocacy of Lei Zu, the ancestors of China had the technology of raising silkworms and reeling. Later generations honored Lei Zu as the "First Silkworm Queen" in memory of her. The day when Leizu found silkworms happened to be Xiaoman, so Xiaoman was also called a festival in Leizu.
