How to adjust the valve clearance of Santana engine?

The valve clearance of Santana engine is adjusted by the following steps:

(1) Turn the crankshaft so that the piston of the first cylinder is at the top dead center of the compression stroke, and adjust the intake and exhaust valves of the first cylinder, the exhaust valve of the second cylinder and the intake valve of the third cylinder.

(2) Turn the crankshaft. When the four-cylinder piston is at the top dead center of the compression stroke, the four-cylinder intake valve and exhaust valve, the two-cylinder exhaust valve and the three-cylinder intake valve can be adjusted. Complete two adjustments.

(3) When adjusting, press down the tappet with a special tool, and take out the tappet gasket with a needle-nose pliers.

(4) Measure the thickness of tappet gasket with micrometer. According to the clearance requirements, select the gasket with appropriate thickness from the gasket box, and then put the gasket into the tappet. Note that the marking face is facing the tappet.
