Structural types of summer solstice

There is a knowledge about word structure in middle school Chinese teaching. Word structure is a very important basic knowledge of grammar, and the explanation of this knowledge is sometimes a bit vague. When reading classical Chinese or understanding some modern Chinese words, there may be subjective errors, or even if there are no subjective errors, it will objectively cause misunderstanding among some readers. For example, today, a famous old professor in the Chinese Department of a famous university forwarded an article entitled "Winter Solstice" on an official WeChat account in the WeChat circle of friends. Of course, the old professor doesn't know the meaning of winter solstice, but the old gentleman conveniently sent a recommendation at the top of sharing this article: "Sure enough, winter is coming." This suggestion may lead to misunderstanding. Some young people may think that the winter solstice means that winter has arrived. In fact, the solstice of winter does not mean that winter has arrived. As we all know, in the traditional 24 solar terms in China, winter is not the solstice winter, but beginning of winter.

Many years ago, the Chinese textbook for junior middle schools in China, edited and published by People's Education Publishing House, interpreted the grammatical structure of the word "winter solstice" in the grammar knowledge essay of Word Structure as the subject-predicate structure, and thought that the winter solstice meant that winter had arrived. It is wrong to explain the grammatical structure and significance of Winter Solstice in this way. In fact, the word winter solstice is not a subject-predicate structure, but a positive (attribute+head word) structure, which means "winter solstice", that is, the winter solstice is "the extreme of winter", which means that the winter days are short to the evening and long.

Similar to the winter solstice is the summer solstice, and the summer solstice does not mean that summer has arrived.
