Why does it snow less in Qingdao?

In fact, it is not less snow in Qingdao, but more snow around Qingdao. Qingdao has Mount Tai in the west and Mount Lai in the north. When it snows, there must be cumulonimbus clouds, precipitation and low temperature at the same time, so it snows.

Because Qingdao coastal hills and bays are insulated, the temperature is relatively high in winter. It is difficult to form a snowfall state with a low enough temperature.

On the other hand, due to the prevailing northwest wind in winter, the rain clouds brought by the northwest wind were blocked when they met Laishan Mountain or Taishan Mountain, and snowfall occurred in Jinan, Weifang and Yantai in advance, resulting in no rain in Qingdao.

Compared with the surrounding areas, the winter climate in Qingdao is relatively dry and warm. It doesn't snow easily. The snow in Qingdao is usually around the Spring Festival, because it is the coldest time and the end of winter. The northwest wind is not so strong, and the southeast wind prevails, bringing rain from the sea. It will snow just before the temperature rises. But it won't last long, because winter will soon pass, the temperature will rise and the snow will turn into rain.
