Matters needing attention in camellia cultivation

1. The soil for planting camellia should be acidic loam rich in organic matter; When it meets alkaline earth, it will cause yellowing and yellowing, and some will also appear yellowing spots; Rainwater or pond water is more suitable for irrigation. If tap water is used, it should be stored in the water tank for 1 ~ 2 days before use. It is best to volatilize toxic chlorine and often apply 0.2% ferrous sulfate to improve water quality.

2. The optimum growth temperature is 20℃ ~ 25℃. The flowering temperature is 10℃ ~ 15℃, and the highest temperature is no more than 20℃, otherwise it is easy to die early. In winter, the room temperature is not lower than 5℃, and germination begins above 7℃. The short-term low temperature of 00℃ is harmless, but if it drops below-1℃, it will easily freeze to death, so be sure to enter the room before the first frost.

3. In summer, outdoor potted plants are best placed in the east, in a cool and humid place under the tree, facing east, so that you can see the sun in the morning and avoid it in the afternoon; In the spring or midsummer season when you just leave home, you are most afraid of extreme heat and strong sunshine, so you need 50% shading, otherwise it will easily cause the leaves to turn yellow and fall off, or even die.

4. Because the root system of camellia is small and fragile, too much humidity or too dry is not conducive to its growth: too much humidity will lead to capillary root rot, and in severe cases, the whole plant will die; Too dry will cause sunburn, curly leaves, wilting and yellowing, and falling flowers and buds: the soil can always maintain 60% humidity; In summer, water should be sprayed around leaves and plants frequently to reduce the temperature and increase the air humidity; In case of too much rain, the basin should be turned over or shaded, or temporarily moved to the sunny place indoors.
