The origin and custom of slight cold

The slight cold solar term originally originated in the Yellow River Basin. It is said that in the early years, every farmer in the Yellow River valley used the "Nine-Nine Cold Map" to keep out the cold and keep fit. The custom is to eat glutinous rice, vegetable rice and laba porridge, and count to nine.

Slight cold is the 23rd solar term among the 24 solar terms and the fifth solar term in winter. During the Warring States period, the twenty-four solar terms were basically formed, and the phenological phenomenon of "slight cold" in the solar terms was recorded in Yi Zhou Shushi Xun Jie.

Twenty-four solar terms tended to be stereotyped in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and the specific time range and astronomical phenomena of slight cold were recorded in the Astronomical Training of Huainanzi in the Western Han Dynasty. In the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, people recorded the slight cold more accurately, and recorded the relevant phenology and temperature, which is still in use today.

On the cold days, people will visit and enjoy plum blossoms, play ice shows, La Worship, prepare for the New Year's goods and other activities, and vagrants will also prepare to go home for the New Year. In this solar term, we should pay special attention to the health care of daily life, exercise, diet, mood and sexual intercourse, go to bed early and get up late, avoid strenuous exercise, tonify the kidney to keep out the cold, and often bask in the sun.

In the slight cold season, people will wait for the arrival of spring by counting nine, and at the same time, many proverbs have been compiled to record the phenology, agriculture and weather of the slight cold.

The custom of slight cold

1, Mei Tan: In the slight cold season, Chimonanthus praecox is in full bloom and red plum is in bud. Choose an excellent scenic spot with plum blossoms and enjoy it carefully. There is a lonely and elegant fragrance in your nose, and your mind will be refreshed and excited. For literati, exploring plum blossoms is an elegant thing. They often go hand in hand, watching bloom in the cold plum snow, and singing poems in pairs, which is very elegant.

2. Ice show: In the northern provinces of China, people complain that the ice age is very long after winter, from 1 1 month to April of the following year. Between spring and winter, the river is frozen and thick, and people walk on the ice with sleds. The sled is pulled by a horse, a dog or a rider, who holds a wooden pole and pushes it forward like a gondola.

In areas with extremely thick ice surface, most of them have ice beds for pedestrians to play with, and some even race on the ice with skates, which was called ice show in ancient times. Various games and activities on the ice, such as skating, ice pumping and ice hockey, are an important part of people's entertainment in winter.
