According to the forecast of the Central Meteorological Observatory, from late October to February in 2023, the intensity of cold air will gradually increase, and the temperature in most parts of Inner Mongolia, Northeast China, North China, Central China, West South China, East and North Southwest China and Northwest China will be lower than normal. This winter, the temperature in most parts of the country will be close to the same period of the year or on the high side, and the temperature changes in stages are obvious. The previous winter was warmer, and the next winter was colder. So it is neither cold winter nor warm winter.

According to the forecast of the National Climate Center, the temperatures in various regions of China this winter are as follows: the temperatures in eastern and western Inner Mongolia, northeastern China, most of southern China, southeastern Southwest China and central and eastern Northwest China are lower than normal, and the temperatures in northeastern Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, western Shaanxi, central and eastern Gansu, northeastern Qinghai and Ningxia are lower 1 ~ 2℃.

How to judge warm winter and cold winter?

The basic factor to judge the cold and warm in winter is the average temperature in winter (12 to February of the following year), which is divided into three levels in space: single station, regional and national.

If the average temperature anomaly of a single station is greater than or equal to 0.43 times the standard deviation, it is a warm winter. On the contrary, if the average temperature anomaly of a single station is less than or equal to -0.43 times the standard deviation, it is a cold winter. Warm winter means that the number of warm winter stations exceeds 50% of the total number of stations, and cold winter means that the number of cold winter stations exceeds 50% of the total number of stations.
